Alliance and Leicester are a nightmare.... complaint being dealt with by FOS at the moment for mis-sold current account, a multitude of inappropriate remarks by staff, and so many incorrect credit searches I cant even get a basic account elsewhere. Oh, and who can forget filing 2 missed payments marker on my account in the wrong place 'because they can.'

    Steer clear methinks...

Well I wouldn't say "ethical", that is quite a broad expression these day's, more like choosy about who they give bank accounts to more like.

Ha. So they turn a lot of ppl down?

Do Nationwide turn a lot of people down too?

Nationwide seem to be extremely choosy about who they give a debit card to - I dont think its so hard to get an account but it seems quite difficult to get a debit card!

In my experience A&L have been awkward to deal with, but will generally muddle through somehow and have even given me to odd few quid ex gratia in apology for their more egregious errors. Abbey in the last year, which is my sole experience of them, have been pure rubbish on the customer service front. Halifax and Lloyds have both been fairly easy to deal with
