Shuffling MBNA credit limits on two cards

I have two MBNA cards in my deck that, as of this morning, are both clear and in the green by a few pennies. One card is an Abbey card and the other is a SBK Superbike card (standard Mastercard with gimmicky design.) The Abbey Card has a limit of nearly twice the SBK card. I have recently received ‘give us a call about your rate’ letters from both cards.
I have read here that MBNA happily shuffle credit limits and that they are likely to give a better offer on a larger amount. Is this the case?
Would it be possible to ‘bolt on’ the credit limit of the SBK card to the Abbey Card with a view to securing an existing customer offer with only one BT fee for a large amount and only on one card? I would also wish to close the SBK account to reduce the amount of cards I have in my deck. I really cannot see a reason why (if shuffling the limits is possible) why I would want to keep two MBNA cards, or am I missing something here?
Any advice or details of experiences gratefully received as I am keen to streamline my cards for the new year and definitely not make a blunder!

If it was me I would phone Abbey and ask them if you could reduce you SBK limit to £1000 (an example) and increase your Abbey limit to what they will allow you to. MBNA usually allow you to spread your total credit availability to your own specifications.

Yes, you can always ask for this to be done. Suggest you call MBNA and ask what offer they have. If it is attractive [eg 0% for six months?] then they should be able to either close the Abbey card or simply move the bulk of the credit limit from there before carrying out the transfer. [If you keep your Abbey card, of course, the same thing could come up with that at a later stage and it would be possible to move the available credit limit back there also].....under construction.... COVID is a [discontinued] scam0

Yes it is possible to do that, I had an AOL mastercard and a Platinum Visa and they let me combine the limits of the 2 cards.0
