Hi,
Has anyone on here recently used emirates or qatar to get to the far east? If so, when you changed at either of the above airports, did you have your passport checked ( I won't be entering the country)?
Thanks

Me too for Dubai, but that was just checking the name in the passport matched the boarding pass.
Shall I guess that you have an Israeli stamp in your passport and are a bit worried?0 -

If that is the OP's concern, then assuming that they hold a British passport, they have nothing to worry about. If however they are in any way concerned about the matter, they need only contact the British Embassy for clarification.

thanks for the replys, i don't have the israeli stamp yet but will be going there early next year and am planning a trip to Thailand later in the year. The UAE airlines seem cheapest for that. Would like to avoid having to get a new passport. The info is a bit mixed on the travel forums and it seems some of the UAE states are more restrictive than others!
I just wanted to find out what other travellers recent experience has been?we have love enough to light the streets.0 -
It always used to be possible to ask Israeli immigration not to stamp your passport, and they would oblige.
In any case, I suggest you speak to someone from one of the airlines you might use and ask their advice. Since you would not be entering the UEA but merely using their transit lounge, I doubt whether you would have any problems, but it is always worth making sure.0 -
I went through Dubai at Easter - I have an Israeli stamp in my British p/p. No problems though. We're there again on thursday!
Of more of a worry is the well publicised intolerance of drugs - I mean over the counter / prescription types. Codeine, for example, is on the banned list and attracts a jail sentence. Prescriptions are essential. Poppy seeds are an issue - one poor Swiss chap was imprisoned after some seeds were found on him (3 I think) from a bread roll he ate at Heathrow.
