Ulster bank - late fees but no statements/bills is this fair!

I have had an ulster credt card for 3 months, i paid the first months using the bill/slip they sent me and requested a DD form (they can't set them up over the phone), i have sent two back now and still not set up 2/3 months later. I was waiting for my bill so i could pay (as i knew DD wasn't set up) but it still hasnt arrived, i did get a letter today though saying they have charged me 12 quid for late payment that was due on 10th nov, but i have no statement bill! i called the cs and they said they have sent my bill end of! not really very good. can they do this?

thinking of moving, its a good 0% no fee deal but in 10 years plus i had only missed one payment until i joined Ulster! grrrrr.

You may also find that your missed payments get your 0% revoked too going by whats happened to others. I'd get back on the phone and if they wont refund it then make an official complaint in writing. I'd also move the debt to another card if you can.

The statement would have been produced around the 10th of October. Your last one was produced on 10th September (and the one before that on the 10th August?). You probably have a good reason, but you seem to have waited an awfully long time for the latest one to arrive!

Correction; it WAS a good 0% deal...you've probably lost it now by breaching the T&C's.

I suggest you ring their customer loyalty team and plead your case. However, there's usually a clause in T&C's that says even if you don't receive a statement, or they can't send you one for whatever reason, you must still make a payment.

Weird, they set mine up over the phone.
You're spelling is effecting me so much. Im trying not to be phased by it but your all making me loose my mind on mass!! My head is loosing it's hair. I'm going to take myself off the electoral role like I should of done ages ago and move to the Caribean. I already brought my plane ticket, all be it a refundable 1.
  • I'm with YourshireBoy, you need to make sure that if you statement has not arrived you must make the minimum payment by the due regardless of you getting a statement.

No such thing as free money as you have got to be alert and meet all the monthly repayments...

P.S. I've applied for the Ulster Bank Gold card as the Abbey Zero is finished and there are no other cards out there with 0.00% BT fee!

If you want to pay your Ulster CC via online banking the details to make BACS payment are as follows:

    sort code 98-30-01
    account 27272778

Use your credit card number as reference. They also accept FP now which makes life a lot easier.
“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”
  • From experience i'd say pay it now, I had a similar issue and they charged me, canceled my 0% offer and stuck a late on my credit record, they really wont take any messing.
  • Until the DD is confirmed as setup, you should pay the old fashioned way...
