Morrisons dvds

I don't know if this is the right place to post this..

My OH bought Prince Caspian 2 disc dvd in a sealed box from Morissons today. We put disc one in & the screen said 'unable to read disc'. Tried several times, wiped the disc etc..still no joy. Disc two played ok. OH went back to Morrisons. They brought him two new discs to put in the existing dvd box. Tried disc one-played through the trailers then display said 'stopped due to malfunction'. Tried several times, but the disc stopped at the same point each time. Didn't bother trying disc two this time. OH said he will return it tomorrow for a refund.:(

Now, I found it strange that the assistant brought out two discs instead a new, sealed box. Could it be that they've had a bad batch with lots of returns & they thought they'd give him some of the returns to try?

Has anyone else had problems with dvds purchased from Morrisons, Prince Caspian or others?

  • Not exactly the same, but when my sister bought Carnival for the Wii, she had to take it back 3 times before going elsewhere.
  • My brother bought a 3 pack of horror DVDs once from Morrison's, and when he opened it (on the bus heading home, I might add), he found three chick flick movies (Love Actually, Dirty Dancing and can't remember what the other one was)

He got it exchanged no problem, but me and mum wanted him to keep the ones they'd given him by accident.

Yeah, we hardly ever go there but he was in there getting a few bits & pieces & picked it up to cheer up our DD who's home poorly with the tummy bug...so much for that idea!

So, took the dvds back today. Explained the story to the assistant, she asked if we wanted to try more or have a refund so we asked for a refund. She took the dvds over to the till to refund the card & said she'd just check the discs first. She said she was very surprised that we were given these as replacements as they were very scratched & that they would've been checked before they were handed over. She asked again what the problem had been so we repeated the whole senario...she seemed very disbelieving but gave us a refund in the end whilst muttering something about them having to send the dvds back so that they could get a refund.
  • Oh the poor dears! Fancy a supermarket having to ask for it's money back! I'm just hoping the supplier mucks them about the way supermarkets mucks its own customers about!

You done right, though ideally you should have got the refund first off if it wasn't working.

I know, but as in op-it was meant to cheer the lil un up while she was poorly yesterday..

Left the shop feeling like liars who had the audacity to ask for a refund!

    Glad you got it sorted.

As if the assistant could give a stuff, though, as to whether the company got a credit for the DVD
