I've been Money Tipped!
I ordered an Xbox 360 (60gb) which is due to arrive tomorrow (the Amazon deal).

Someone has told us that they are noisy, is that correct and if so how noisy compared to a pc?

  • The DVD drive is the main source of the volume, but as of tomorrow the need to use it will be drastically reduced with the new dashboard update.

How loud to a PC, don't know, how loud is your PC? It's very subjective.
  • My OH has one and I don't find it that noisy, there is some noise, sounds like a fan but it does not seem too bad. Hope this helps.
  • Yes but some discs make more noise that others, when I put need for speed carbon in mine it sounds like the washing machine on the spin cycle.
Nothing to see here, move along.

My sons is quite noisy, he has to put something on the top of it so its not so noisy but he has had it since they first came out so its probably just wearing out.

They're not that bad to be honest, i dont really notice it while im playing
  • I don;t notice it when I'm playing games, however I do notice mine a little bit on quiet scenes in HD DVD's. Not enough for me not to buy one though! Good purchase! :)
  • My sons is a bit noisy but it's usually the fan or the disc drive when reading some of his discs - we keep that area free of stuff and clean it out to keep it free from dust - a dusty fan is less efficient so has to work harder and will make more noise.

We don't really notice the noise - nothing I'd consider excessive anyway.
I won't buy it if I can make or borrow it instead

I hope that he's not blocked the vent holes in the lid otherwise he'll cook it.
