Had a quick check on Which site - here's their latest best buys -

    Siemens WXL147A reliability average
    Bosch WFO 2467 above average
    Miele W2203 above average
    Bosch WFX 2868 above average
    Tricity Bendix AW1260 above average

Only a point or two between the whole lot. I can't print the review here (copyright) but I've pm'sd you with some addtional info! :santa2:

ps - I recently had to replace washer dryer and chose a zanussi - happy with it so far, dead quiet and has an enormous 7kg drum which really makes a difference.

Update to last post - January 2006 Which lists following as best buys -
(new magazine came after my earlier post)

Bosch WBB 24759 Logixx (this is pricey but has big 9kg drum)
Miele Premier 500 (quietist on test)
    Siemens WXL147A
    Bosch WFO 2467
    Bosch WFX 2868
    Miele W2203
    Siemens WXL127AGB
    Tricity Bendix AW1260
    Bosch WFL2067 Classixx
    Candy CL2127 Smart

All I can say is Noooooo never by a Candy .. I had one that went on fire in the middle of the night.. I later learned that this had been shown on Watchdog.. but when the Candy engineer came out he said they wouldn't repair / replace as it was a DIFFERENT model to the one on the watchdog program

.. the machine was 2 years old at the time..

ps there is a LG model that comes in at number 2 - the LG WM12225FD, the only reason they don't list it as a 'best buy' is because their reliability data on this brand is incomplete - but early signs look promising - it also has a larger drum at 7.5 kg.

Meant to say John Lewis give a free 3 year warranty - so might be worth keeping in mind.

This Hoover Ecologic has been in use for 10 years, still no problems...Curry's have a Hoover 1400 spin in their sale for £199....tempted but will keep going with this, otherwise makes a mockery of moneysaving elsewhere.

Hi ken , I had a Hoover washer / dryer for 14 years.. I had it repaired on occasion by a guy who had worked for Hoover for decades.. he said these were excellent machines .. but that was then .. new ones nowhere near as good!

I have had an Indesit for 7 years now and it's still going well. My next one will also be an Indecit.
  • Kirkie... You said that you got the Samsung reduced from £379.99 to £189.99 but when I look at the Argos website, its priced at 229.99 - How did you get the reduced price?

I have an Indesit (they are an Italian company, they also make Ariston and Hotpoint) it has worked fine for about 10 years.
My Mind wanders, if found please return.
  • Have just bought a Siemens XL1400 washing machine. Got the local shop (Ace Electric) in Fleet to price match the lowest web price (£429)and he delivered and installed it on a pre arranged morning. Couldn't ask for more and it came with a free Siemens 5 year parts and labour warranty. Very pleased - machine is quiet and looks to be much better built than others at the price.
