Electric Meter?

Hi

I currently have a prepay electric meter on economy 7, my landlord has agreed to let me change the meter to a normal one.

Recently I moved to ebico`s tariff with this being southern electric are these the best people to get to change the meter, any ideas etc?

Cheers

You do appreciate that Ebico charge the same for pre-pay meters as normal meters? So they may be unwilling to change the meter??

That said, unless you are an extremely low user(unlikely with E7) Ebico are expensive for electricity.

You won't save any money changing meter type with ebico - they charge all their customers in the same region the same price.

Will will, of course, benefit not not have to regularly visit the charging point to buy more credit.

Ring ebico and see what they say if you still want to switch meter type. If they say they will charge you (not just a deposit, but an actual fee for changing the meter) then they are not the best people to switch the meter.

In which case you'll need to ring around other suppliers and see if you can negotiate a free meter change in exchange for providing them with your custom. Only your supplier can actually arrange for the meter to be changed.

  • The main thing is that is a economy 7 meter and having to keeping buy more credit for the meter.

I did phone ebico and they did mentioned southern electric changes the meters for free, as you say it might be worth ringing around to see what other suppliers can do

No one is going to beat free! ;)

Southern Electric provide the customer services function for ebico.

  • Agreed! What I meant was changing over to another provider who would also change the meter for free who might provide better service!

You might find a better price (after you've switched to a credit meter - until then you'll pay the PPM charge of any new supplier), but I doubt you find better service than SSE - they are renowned as providing one of the best in the industry.
Scottish and Southern Energy ("SSE") has had its reputation for providing the best customer service in the energy supply industry confirmed, by three independent surveys - J.D. Power and Associates 2007 UK Electricity and Gas Supplier Customer Satisfaction Study, uSwitch.com’s Customer Satisfaction Report, and the quarterly supplier performance report by Energywatch.
