Most Rapidfit places do a 'value service' for ~£100.

That's nearly the price of a service from Ford!

Here are quotes from nine different ford dealerships in South West Dorset for the first service on a Ford Focus 1.8 Diesel 58plate
    Andover £180.43 08432081232
    Taunton £175.00 08432081275
    Poole £164.44 08432081236
    Yeovil £162.00 08432081238
    Dorchester £155.13 08432081233
    Bridgewater Somerset £155.00 08432081239
    Shaftsbury £141.38 08432081237
    Salisbury £140.00 08432081235
    Chard £130.00 01460269100
So...as you can see...same service on the same car with nine different quotes, it’s as though someone said...pick a number...any number.
Poole ford is my closest so I will be getting them to price match on the quote I got from the chard dealership.

I get my 56 Focus Zetec serviced at Tremona in Southampton as well, even though I live in Portsmouth. The local Hendy stealership quoted me a stupid price for a service which Tremona beat by a mile. Trained Ford technician using genuine parts so the warranty was looked after. I needed the radio code which Hendy wanted £20 for, Tremona wouldn't take the price of a pint.

You can get a decent service from local garages, but not necessarily from a stealership.

...oh, and I mentioned in a post a few months ago that a 12500 service interval was weird considering I was used to either 10k or 20k. Actually I got caught out by this on the last service, and Tremona fitted me in within two days

Why go to a dealer? There is no need, does not affect any warranty you have if you use a local garage

I can confirm - TREMONA Southampton are the best Ford Specialists in South UK. I used to service my 51 plate Focus 1.8 petrol at Tremona for 20 months ish. Now I got myself Seat Ibiza and I`m still going to Tremona for annual service and almost everything else because I know they are good ! Only if anything involves connecting a car to CPU and setting up ECU I`m dealing with my mate who is VAG specialist (there is a CPU at Tremona only for Fords). But it doesn`t make any difference. They decided to be good at Fords and they are ! You wont find anyone better than people at Tremona !

My local (non Ford) garage is offering a major service with a free MOT for £99 + vat. £49 + vat for a minor one.

In fairness to previous poster he is right about tremona having a Ford diagnostic system. I think they bought it a few years back from a dealer Ford decided to shut down. It was funny at the time as Ford were convinced they owned the equipment and wernt best pleased to find it all on ebay and purchased by a load non ford approved ford specialists.
