Windows Media Player

Does anyone know how to configure WMP to include Artist, Album, Genre, and all the details of the recording as happens in I tunes? At the moment it only numbers the tracks. Not much use when you are searching for a particular recording. I should have bought an ipod and not an iriver.
thanks

  • Click on Library (at the top of the WMP window), then All Music (next to the musical note symbol). Now right-click on one of the columns in the music list and tick which columns you want to display.

NB - you can type in the search box and click Search to find tracks.
  • The columns are marked artist etc., but when it dowloads the music it put track 1 track 2. etc. Artist unknown
When use I-tunes for the ipod every column has the correct information in it.
Does everyone get this uinformation downloaded when the when they rip a CD in WM?

    I'm pulling my hair out.

    Thanks for your help.

Open Media Player, Tools, Options, Library Tab, and tick Retrieve additional
information from the internet... Then Ok
  • Ripping a CD still doesn't result in any relevant details being installed in the various columns.

It will when you have played the ripped CD,,or should do P.S have you Windows Media Player 10 ? http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/mp10/default.aspx

try Overwrite all media information aswell from Tools Options, it may be a setting in there do one if no good just undo and dont forget to close then open each time after changing a setting.

If a CD that is already ripped wont work as the file info wasnt copied over at the time of ripping originally, you may also do a long winded way of naming a file just play a track the right hand click the track playing and chosee advanced tag editor to insert info.

  • i would have thought you would just rename the album and the tracks and then up it to your i-river.

    thats what i do.

( although not to an i-river, i aint that posh, me)
