I found a book in the library the other day - really good one, thought it might interest someone - not sure if mentioned before.

Pre-cycle by Paul Peacock :-
"How to make everything you used to buy in the supermarket, from sauce to sausages, bleach to beer, detergents to disinfectants".

It covers alot of things MSE's already know, but am interested in the home cleaners/hair & beauty section - specially how to make me own shampoo. Anything that can save money right now has to worth a read !
Would you have the ISBN number please? Our library is..errrm..technical :D
Ohh! Supermarket Snitches has my vote too!

Consider thread as started ! . . . .
Has it begun yet CA & if so, could you post a link please? I know there's a thread already for shrinking products HERE & I must post about the weight of value pickle going down by 4g think tizz :o I'll have to check.

I've got my disguise ready for our covert investigations--don't think anyone will be suspicious do you medium-smiley-009.gif
One value item that has really been noticable for me is MrT corned beef [from the chiller] has disappeared but I can still get it in MrS at the moment. I do buy a fair bit of value but storage has been very tight--not helped by the shelf collapsing under the weight of the tins wacky.gif--& there's no floor space left to put a matchstick, let alone a match BOX :o

That's another thing; they call this a 'family home' but there's hardly room to home a budgie. No1 has the smallest bedroom & it IS small with room for a single bed. The 'wardrobe' is one of those systems you put inside a fitted jobbie but without the outsides & the chest of drawers is from the nursery section as there's no room to open anything bigger. The internal walls are that awful plasterboard stuff so won't hold anything heavier than an envelope & we've got an airing cupboard that now houses the immersion & a "larder" with the meters & heating. Those ads where they show 3 piece suites & bedrooms make me laugh! Forget the furniture--I want the ROOM!

:( We don't have a garden, Ginnyknit - what do you recommend for a 1 bed flat with some hall space and a few window sills?? I would LOVE to grow my own veg (or fruit) if possible. Or are we beyond help??

Im growing the tomato 'garden pearl' and the plants are only 12 inches high including the pot and are flowering well already, they would be a nice addition to a salad. A table in front of the window would hold a tub for salad leaves. I find when you buy a bag of salad a lot gets wasted where as you can just cut a few leaves as you need them. Will have a think what else you can grow and pm you - my brains a bit addled today.

I am by no means an expert on gardening just average by necessity. As Mardatha says if she can grow her toms where she lives we can all manage something.

COLOR=SeaGreen]From Big Mumma F - Would you have the ISBN number please? Our library is..errrm..technical [/COLOR

Yep details are ISBN 978 1 90487138 5, our library has it under reference number 640/............also found a weblog same name - www.precycle-it.co.uk - not had chance to check it out yet tho.

Well things just got worse here - external hard drive wouldn't start - has my life on it - all photos, family history, finances, CV, all stuff/recipes etc. from MSE, budgets, gas & elec readings spreadsheet etc. Took it to PC W0rld before, tech guy said its died, will cost over £700 to get the data recovered :eek::eek: Well that's me well screwed ! :( (only had darn thing 18 months:mad::mad::mad:) Not bothered about the hard drive, just the data on it. Going over to techie board, see if anyone can help. Wish me luck.

I hope the tech board are able to help you. I would imagine that there's an open source freeware data recovery program floating around somewhere.

It definitely ain't dead totally, coz I just plugged it in, and it's making little whirly sparky noises, like it's singing a little song to itself (non-technical term here) just can't seem to make the connection to the main pewter.Got a few answers from techie board, so maybe not as bad as pc w0rld made out (hopefully) :)

I took my pc to a local small computer shop and he repaired my geriatric pc for 40 quid - its worth a check before you consider it 'dead' Pc world want you to buy a new pc from them so may be a tad biased:rotfl:

Plant them.
Water them daily.
Leave them alone.
LOL and pray for sun !

To which I would add - and feed them at reasonable intervals. Say about once a week their water for the day includes a scant handful per watering can of dried seaweed added to their water. They seem to be thriving on that.:)...Day of the Triffids anyone?:rotfl:

Currently - they must all be about 4' high (apart from the tumbler ones)....
