    Hi All

Popping back in to catch up and say hello. Hope everyone is well

Kidcat - sorry about your predicament - hope something turns up soon for you.
Scaty - enjoy your holiday and hope baby stays put until you get back.

Not much has changed here. Boyfriend had his surgery - see a few posts above - and has been in and out of work since with pain etc. I'm in the process of attempting to swap shifts with a work mate that will gain me and hours worth of work and so will help a little bit - granted its only an extra £5.85 but it adds up in the long run. plus ive done 4 extra shifts this month that are 5 hours each so should have another £122 in my pay cheque next month to put aside/save.

I know another word people will hate mentioning but have already started desperately trying to save for Christmas but i need to - with an 8 year old and a 5 year old its hard work and i want to make sure i have the things they want.

Money wise we are surviving at the minute. We have managed to sort our shopping out to one main £70 shop so far this month with top ups but that includes no junk food and just lots of fruit/veg from the discounted range and i have been keeping an eye on the reduced sections in work. I am one of these people who buys meat and then leaves it in the freezer fro months on end but have been using it up lately and am now down to a pack of chicken portions, 2 portions of mince, sausages, half a bag of chips and 2 packs or broccoli/cauliflower but i am watching the reduced section carefully for deals. Hoping to buy a proper fridge/freezer at some point though. Also need to start focusing on getting bills down again as they seem to be spiralling up again.

Apart from that im walking lots, drinking lots of water, working lots and attempting to get ahead with bills but failing miserably. x x x x.

I joined the store cupboard challenge a while back to try to rid my freezers of all their months old stuff, managed to do really well then went shopping one night and found loads of bargains so we were full again, will have to run them all down now though and get them switched off and cleaned out.

Sorry to hear your partners eye op didnt go quite as planned, hope you get sorted soon.

We have been exploring the possibility of moving out of our area (a few miles) and staying in an empty property for our landlord, it would be short term only and it would mean a longer drive to school,(would be shorter drive to work for OH) the rent would be low though and the bills would be much lower than here giving us the opportunity to save alot.
Am hoping that we can do this for at least six months maybe even nine ( would probably have to swap houses at some point) and by the end we would have a deposit for a house. Just waiting to see what they say now.

Its a chance we never thought we would have to be able to buy our own home so its quite exciting, and I am praying that we can do it.

    Hi all
Well thought id give you all a quick update to begin with - Boyfriend was admitted intohospital again yesterday. He went fro his first check up after his eye surgery since 25th June and they sent him directly to anotehr hospital as an emergency patient. went and saw Owen yesterday and it looks like the surgeon has booked him to have surgery on Tuesday but its not looking like he'll be allowed home between now and then because on 3 drops every two hours so hes going to be in hospital for a while, not sure how long he'll have to stay in afterwards but the doctor said this surgery is basically to try and save his eye so he needs it.

Saw him last night anyway (left Ben with my father in law because wasn't sure who was on the ward with Owen and wanted to suss it out first) but walked in and he was sat reading the bible (not religious in the slightest so very bored) but was happy to see us. He'd had food etc, told us that the graft in his eye had basically been disintegrating and as it did it was pulling on the stitches that were holding it in place so effectively shredding the eye and that's why he'd been in so much pain:(. So now the new doctor had removed the stitches, and left the graft in but had put a contact lens over the top to basically keep the graft in place and Tuesday was the surgeons first available slot but he is a specialist so hoping he'll sort him out and save Owen's eye. Felt horrible leaving him in there though but took him magazines in, some fudge etc so he has a few bits and pieces and have a few bits to pick him up today before we go in so will get a shift on with them later.

Plus its my nephew (with ADHD) birthday today as well but hes worried about his uncle Owen so mother in law is going to take him over this evening to go and see Owen - I have to start work at 5 so they offered to have Ben overnight for me (they originally were anyway as we were meant to be at the bikes tomorrow) so i'll pick him up tomorrow morning then.

Also went into work and the supervisor who had a go at me last week for being ill was in and had a word with her, explained about last week and she said oh well least you have a nice holiday coming up so explained we weren't going now because Owen was bad and she actually seemed really nice and genuinely concerned - normally she is a right !!!!! to me though but she said if i needed anything even if it was distracting ben from it all because her grandson Josh is one of Bens classmates in school then he could come up fro tea or a play day.

Apart from that though someone put a pandemic flu assessment through my door yesterday with a note saying 'we have noticed you've been very sick lately, we think you should take this' and then an email address. SO did and it was for the national pandemic flu assessment and turns out my suggestion was to rest, drink fluids and use a decongestant --- could have told them that anyway and its what ive been attempting to do - although slept ok last night even though i was worrying about Owen i know hes safe and ive woken up fro the first morning being able to breath and my neck muscles aren't sore and ive no pressure headache today so good good. Was very weird though I have only been left on my own with Ben a handful of times before, and have never been left by myself but tonight im going to be totally alone - bar the dog because i have a 5 - 10pm shift and mother in law said Ben can stay at there house and my holiday starts tomorrow so im off till next sunday.

well that's about all from me, am off to write a list of things to pick up for Ow later on. Ben is still in bed but will get him to draw a picture for daddy - his room looks so generic, dull and miserable that i want ben to do a few pictures to brighten it up for him plus i know Owen will love that too.

Right - will talk to you all later. hope everyone else is ok.

    Love

    Sammy

    Hi,
Sammy i hope everything goes ok for your boyfriend,i know how stressful it can be with hospitals as my little boy broke his arm 3 weeks ago. The first local hospital didn't do much and we had to wait till the next day to go to other hospital an hours drive away then we have fortnightly visits to get him checked.Im just glad i am driving now but i find the drive very draining and also have to take other 3 children and eldest usually stays at home.

    Hi Kidcat

Sorry haven't been on MSE a while. he had his surgery on 22nd June and it went ok , was seen on the 25th June by the day surgery unit and was dismissed form them and hasn't had another appointment since.

Have tried ringing several times and just get told the local hospital he was meant to be referred to have no idea who he is, day surgery unit wont see him as they released him on the 25th June and the surgeons receptionist who he had sadi everyone bar his surgeon should have sorted so had to leave a note for his surgeon as its been almost a months since he was last checked up and he is in pain with his eye, it closes voluntarily and is straining alot so hes in alot of pain. Also hes had no repeat meds because they put something wrong on his doctors notes so i made a scene in the doctors surgery and managed to get the repeat prescription thankfully but its doing no good and he has had bleeding on his eye.

so to say the road has been far from smooth is an understatement. Still no closer to getting him checked up on as his surgeon is away until next week. so may ring and play hell tomorrow with them after work.

How about a letter of complaint cc'd to your local MP? That might put a rocket under 'em.

Hi sammy I just wanted to send you a big hug, it sounds like everything is a total nightmare for you at the moment, good that your boss has at least been supportive, dont forget that if someone offers help and you need it take them up on it, you can always return the favour when they are in trouble. (Its soemthing I struggle to do too, yet always offer help straight away to people)
Obviously there is nothing much on the medical front for you to do at the moment but I would advise keeping a diary of events, it sounds as though you may have a medical negligence case (to be looked at when all this is over) and a diary would be really useful.

Good luck, take care of you and your family, :)

Well all - I just wanted to pop back in and let you know some other news we received today - I have been feeling really ill with this flu/cold bug thing and was feeling particularly rubbish today. My period was overdue and has been fro a while (May was my last TOTM) but ive done tests previously (cheap ones) and they have said negative so today on the off chance I went and spent money on a decent test and to my shock had a positive result so in the midst of the hard times we are having I have just found out Im pregnant but it has really put a huge :D on boyfriends face.
