I was typing faster than I could think. Bt plus broadband is 1/5 the cost of CT but is still a fixed and necessary outgoing. I don`t want to live in the dark ages

I agree, we did 6 months without broadband at the last place and it was sooooo frustrating ...

If I did a separate curtain for each of the windows then they wouldn't have to pull across a corner at all. Initially I was thinking a pair in the middle for the door and one big one either side so 4 pieces in total, but this would mean each window one pulling across the corner.

You can made a single curtain for each pair of windows and gather it centrally between the windows. You don't have to use an old fashioned kidney shaped tieback - a bit of rope/ribbon tied to a hook behind the curtain works well. Less making involved.

I once had to make a lopsided curtain to go on a window/door/seat combination in a corner where it wasn't possible to install a pair of curtains.

    Good morning!

Whilst we're all waiting for our veggies to grow, Lidl have some good offers, cauli and cucumbers are 59p each (I think!), much better than the prices elsewhere at the moment for these!

And I got two large bottles of Stardrops, the new style ones, for 50p each in Asda - not sure if this was the correct price, as it was marked on the shelf as for the OS packaging, but that's what they went through the till at, so a bit of a bargain, as even if you don't use it for anything else you can use it as washing up liquid!

For anyone looking for seeds, Poundland have assorted packs, including ones with 6 varieties in them - I bought a couple, even if not all of them germinate it'll be more than enough for my needs.

I was chatting to a lady in the queue and before long we had loads of people joining in, all about how the supermarkets are putting up prices by silly amounts, everyone was chipping in with the best bargains and places to find things - consumer power is going to hit some of the profit margins as people start to shop around more I think.

I did wonder :) And yes we had popcorn instead, its the principle that annoys me, they are treating me (and all their customers ) like I am a mindless idiot and I find that :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:.

I ahve decided to try find a recipe and HM instead.

I got to thinking about my broadband and we had to have the bigger package, which includes 15GB. Checking my usage today, I have spare capacity so decided to download iplayer and have now watched `grow your own medicine` which I missed last night. Wonderful programme

A few days ago I bought a large organic local chicken from my organic box man. The price brought tears to my eyes but what the heck as I knew I could make it stretch. Being organic and older, I roasted it slowly in a roasting bag (for the sake of my oven!!) for 2 hours. It was the nicest chicken I have tasted since a child, 55 years ago. Absolutely succulent and wonderful. The breasts and bits are now bagged in the freezer as is 3 lots of stock plus I had a pint of good stock in the fridge

I watched the programme that I downloaded on i player and being a damp, dull day, decided to make the chicken soup with goji berries for a mid morning snack. I put a few bits of chicken in and used the stock from the fridge plus some chilli from the freezer. No faffing either ie no sauteing anything. All in pan plus some left over mushrooms plus washed cranberries, as I have no gojis yet plus 3 garlic cloves. It took 20 minutes in total and was absolutely superb

Now to find some dried hops

Every time I spot a sneaky price rise I see if I can actually cut my weekly shop in price, just to show the ****s who's in charge.

Well Kittie, you wouldnt like to live here ! :) three streetlights in the village and the next village is over 12 miles down the road ! but lovely stars...
I agree re internet though. It makes life bearable for people who are cut off in one way or another. Scotlands council tax is frozen for the second year running, and we dont pay for water in the same way as you.
B on the other hand its a minimum 24 miles round trip to the nearest shop either up the road or down it, so we need the car & all the costs that go with it.

how do you mean hon? we pay for water up here and sure we did when we lived down your way

got any snow yet anyone,it's belting down here today:eek: thought we'd seen the last of it for the year. We've got a freezer full of food and plenty of coal so we're ok thankfully :D

We have snow forecast but is still 4C & rain, so not yet.. Nothing to beat a good blizzard and a full coalbox eh ? Until it happens 10 months of the year LOL!
