What worries me is that they are all saying Mr.Bean's figures are wrong & we won't climb out of this recession next summer. So what happens then ? It's as if he has borrowed far too much and is counting on next year's overtime to pay it back --whatif next year there's no overtime ?? I think this thread & this forum is going to be very very important for a lot of people yet. A lot of really bad stuff might still happen !

I'd amend the word "think" Mardatha - I'm sure of it. I dont even need my crystal ball to figure that one out:D errrr...just as well...never did get any further with it than seeing grey clouds in it;)

  • Is it just me being stupid but I can't really see that reducing VAT is going to do that much? It would make a £400 washing machime around £10 cheaper but if you've not got £400 in the first place it's immaterial. OK so pensions and family allowance are going up a little bit but older people and those with young families are not going to rush out on a spending spree. I guess they'll squander it all on stuff like food and heat! I'm working with no kids and I can't see how this is going to put any money in my pocket. I work for the government and haven't had a pay rise and can't see when I will get one. I'm not making any large purchases as I want to hang on to some savings. I really don't think the patient has got the medicine it needs.
  • Just been on the BBC site and OH between us will be £150 a year better off supposedly. So just over a tenner a month! Good times here we come! I'm having an operation and will be off work and need more heating so that'll take care of that. These politicians are living on another planet. Last recession I'd just got my first mortgage (13.5% interest!) and ended up with negative equity. Thankfully this time I'm nearing the end of my mortgage and we'll get by OK if we watch the pennies.
  • well its november so we are struggling. We use dh's annual bonus every December to piump up our monthly income, and the bonus from last year has now gone, so we are using our dwindling savings, which we need to cover the short fall. Dh has a fuel bill alone of £250 a month and me another £250 a month, and public transport is not an option !!!!! I havnt worried before, last year the bonus pot was still in credit.

My car cost £1,000 to service this summer, and dh just spent £1200 keeping his on he road for another 12 months !!! ARGH!!!!! my gear box is on borrowed time !!

i should be relieved, we have no debt, but for how long ? ? apparantly we are going to be £320 a year better off tho ?

Turns out I'm going to be £88.40 worse off next year. Which, after I've paid my weekly bills it's a weeks wages.

Oh well, nothing I can do about it.
