I used to work in a chemists as a teenager, 46 years ago and we had k and m on the shelves. Several people used to come in for a daily bottle, they must have gotten very bunged up or at least pounds heavier over the week. We also had an oophie drawer behind the counter (condoms) and men would usually ask for a pharmacist (all were male) but sometimes wierdos would delight in asking a virginal young girl, like me, even going as far as to say large size please. Honestly in those days I hardly knew what they meant and would be down in the drawer for ages looking for condoms in large
So different then eh. I remember a mum bringing in a child who had fallen on a broken glass window and slashed her face. I calmly sat the child down and bathed her slashed face then put butterfly plasters on but making the vs in the plasters because they only did rolls in those days. I was 15 then and so calm and knowledgable through being the oldest of 70 -
Hi ladies, I'm back after some lurking and starting a new job. The good news is I love my new job, the bad news is that over Christmas I've had time to look at our financial affairs and it's worse than I thought. I'm going to have to get seriously old style, DH better look out!!!
Fortunately I have a pretty good store cupboard (although nowhere near as good as DD&D's) and have the ability to 'make something out of nothing' in more ways than one
I'm hoping to be around a bit more to partake in tea, chat and quilt quivering whilst it freezes outsideSeparated 17/06/10, now dealing with the falloutHouse sold and debt cleared 23rd May 2014. Now saving to get married!Current savings £00 -
Aloe Vera is also known as the burn plant and has all sorts of uses. Growing it is easy and very handy thing to have to hand.
Yep I agree, it's something else I keep in my kit, it's good for burns and also for sunburn and generally dry and manky skin.Piglet

Do you realise ladies, and possibly a gent or two, how fashionable we will suddenly become in the next year? We will no longer be thought of as quaint or eccentric for repurposing objects, for being at home with our families, for growing vegetables in our flower beds and lawns. How long before we have people queuing up, asking us to share our skills? By next Christmas, the height of fashion might be a good label, bought from the charity shop, wellies and fingerless gloves.
