Urgent Advice Needed

I have just received a WEM from spinebreakers, where a story had to be continued. this competition was for 13-18 year olds and my 13 year old son entered with his part of the story. Now (sorrry if i'm waffling) the email states that we have won a Toshiba Satellite Pro L300-12F:eek: The problem with this is that when he entered he used my email account and put my name in as he thought that you had to put your parents name in( we tell our boys never to give out their information on the web!!) and the wem has been named to me. What should i do, i really did not have any input into his story writing( he is far better than me and is already at GCSE A grade in english at school.) however it would be awfull if he had to forfeit this win.

Update My sons win will be honoured, have just spoken to the competiton organisers and explained the situation and they will honour my sons entry so he will receive his prize of a lap top. YAY go George
also thank to op who posted this comp my son will be so happy
Please help, any advice greatly received.

Firstly, well done to your son.
Secondly, i'd explain to the company who ran the comp exactly what you've put here. It sounds like a very reasonable explanation to me. Good luck. x

If ur son done it why do u have to tell them anything?
or if u feel bad, just say in the email to accept prize thanks " my son who is 13 done the story and entered via my email as he doesnt have his own email acct.
that should suffice, they would fully understand that! xxx
    well done xxx

Have they asked for proof of age or for anything like that? If not then just accept the prize as your son won it fair and square. If they do want proof, say what you have here. And well done :T:T:T to you and your son.

Well done to your son! I would say what you have that you don't like giving his details out over the internet, etc., most sites with kids comps ask for a first name then full details for the parent, if they don't more often or not I enter my own with my age!! ........ Wonder if that's why my kids have not been lucky yet????? LOL!

Thanks for your advice chelseagirl and toniq. the only problem that I see is that the email asks for confirmation of age and asks if i would be interested in publicity surrounding this competition win

I had a similar thing where I entered a comp for my step daughter and accidentally put my younger daughters details, the comp was for 11-16 yr olds and the details I used were my 5 year old daughters details. I just rang them and explained what had happened and they were absolutely fine about it, im sure things like this must happen all the time and given your son is young then its an easy mistake to make, I think you will be fine.

Congrats to your son on his win! :T
    2008 - £6,000.00, 2009/10 - Didn't comp
    Back and hoping in 2011!

just explain and give them proof of your sons age, would be surprised if they didnt accept it. as for the publicity, it doesnt sound as though its a condition of the prize so its up to you/your son - will probably be something like submitting a pic.

good luck and send your son a big congrats :D
