"Advanced Antivirus"

Hi,

I sat down today to remove some spyware from a friends computer, A task I seem to be doing quite often these days :(

Anyway, the thing is my friend actually went and bought one of these rubbish programs that the pop ups throw up, Advanced Antivirus to be precise.

I have system cleaned and all is running well, the only concern I have is that he has gave his his card details to these people. How serious is this? will they be happy with the sale of above product or is there a chance his card details could be used fraudulently in the future?

Any advice woild be great

Tell him to cancel his card now. The program ITSELF is spyware (Dodgy as hell).
I sure wouldnt risk it anyways

Get it off his computer and install AVAST or AVIRA instead

I have it off the computer already,

I was wondering about the threat to his card details. I think you are right, I will advise him to cancel the card, better safe than sorry.

He should be OK although he'll need to keep an eye on his statements.
