Bypassing printer defaults

I am working from home and need to print a document. The printer - Epson Stylus C420 - can print in black or colour. The black cartridge has run out completely although the colour cartridge is 2/3 full. Even though there is colour ink, the printer won't let me print anything, even when I change font colour in the document to say all blue or all red. Is there anyway I can bypass this setting to "make" the printer print?

Nope. You're going to have to go buy a cartridge.0
