Since I started working from home the 15" laptop screen doesnt quite cut it.
So am looking at getting a new desktop. I missed out on the recent Dell 24" offer.

So was wondering does any MSER use an LCD tv as a monitor, and have any reccomendations, Ideally I would like a duel monitor setup, and have the desk real estate to accomodate up to 2 x 32" screens.

    Any particular reason?,
most 32" tv's run at 1360x768 comparable res to a 19" WS TFT monitor, you might run into some serious ergonomic issues here such as eyestrain and possibly even muscular problems as a neck turn will be required to get from a1 to b1360
  • if you are insistent on being able to use the screen as both TV and monitor, buy 1 or 2 decent pc monitors, and a TV tuner for the PC, accept, of course, that the TV resolution (even HD) will be below that of the monitor

  • reminds me of a post I saw the other day of a TV running from a little Samsung NC10. You can check it out here and maybe ask more?
  • I use my Samsung 40 tv for a monitor but its more to be honest for playing media and I use dvi to hdmi adaptor. Its fine for media but I wouldnt use it for long term use

TV's are really optimised for viewing media not for daily use as a monitor. LCD's monitors in contrast are optimised for computers

I use a Dell 24" as a monitor is uses full HD resolution

Just to clarify, am not interested in the TV functionality, am just greedy and want big screens. I assume there muct be come LCDs out there with a native PC resolution.
The sole use would be either:
MS Word on 1, Powerpoint on the Other
Dreamweaver on 1, IE on the other.

Might just have to bite the bullet and get 2/3 of the Dell 24"ers

Why stop at 24 inch. There are 28+ inch monitors out there. Try looking for WQUXGA res.

I favour 2 * Viewsonic VX2260WM's. Alas only 22 inch but still alot of desktop.

I do know someone who uses what must be a 42 inch tv and it is uncomfortable
to work at coz it just doesn't have a high enough res and it hurts your neck.
