she doesnt get housing benefit, she is in her late 40s so to be honest anyway, care homes are a long way away, and after the five years she wants to sign the house over to us and just pay rent, its a three bed house so if we ever did lose our jobs, ush come to shove we would move in there. anyway, thankyou for your concern, but the original question was, would we be able to get a joint mortgage? any answers????
cheers0 -
Ask your current bank.
She wants to revert to being a tenant after 5 years of you subsidising her mortgage. Nice.0 -

Just wondering, can my aunt is struggling getting a mortgage for her right to buy low income, can she get a joint mortgage with my hubby? he wont be on the right to buy app as he isnt a tenant, but she is going to alter her will so that if anything happened the house would pass to us as she doesnt have any children and we are very close.
many thanks

I thought you were leaving.Been away for a while.0

The problem is it's her right to buy. Not yours.0

Only person with right to buy is aunt. I assume OP's husband doesn't live at the property so he wouldn't be entitled to join in the exercise of the right to buy.
The Council will only sell to those who have the right to buy and certian close relatives etc who live at the property. So in practice aunt is going to be the only one with her name on the Land Registry title. That means she is also the only one who can have a mortgage on the property.RICHARD WEBSTER
As a retired conveyancing solicitor I believe the information given in the post to be useful assuming any properties concerned are in England/Wales but I accept no liability for it.0 -
Thanks for that Richard, the problem is she is struggling getting a mortgage would a guarantor mortgage be of any use?
