Elizabethan collar

Ellooo, my friend has now had her kitties spayed but they have come home with these collars on & seem distressed by them & unable to wash. I've had alot of females spayed & they never have them here. Can she take it off?

Comments

  • mine never came home with them, as long as they are not aggravating the site they should be fine, just tell her to keep an eye on them

  • So glad she got them done! - she could take them off, watch the carefully and if they seem to be too interested in their stitches pop them back on again!
  • Thanks both, yeah I said take em off & watch them, mine have never had collars so i'm not too sure why hers do! My current cat was spayed already as she was 23 months when she came to me but i've since had various females & all were spayed while I had them & none had collars, only one tried to take her stitches out! I'm glad they're done now too, i've seen a cat in season, or should I say heard it! lol not nice! She said she'd call the Vet this morning cause it was about 4am we were talking, she's hating seeing them both with these collars on x

They will get used to them after a couple of days, but not all cats need them. IME though, it is always best to use them, especially if the sutures are not subcutaneous (ie if you can see the knots), as it can cause a lot of bother and extra expense if the naughty wee things pull their sutures out! Especially if they decide to do so at 4am ;)
I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.
