I'm pretty sure they don't buy the greatest volume of gas that far ahead. Though they did seem to start buying far ahead more frequently in the spring, it didn't seem to apply as much to the second half of this year, which is what we're talking about now.
This must rank among your more incoherent outbursts. I attempt to make sense of the available information and advance my understanding... and this is a bad thing? I know you are too pig-headed to try and learn anything, but trying to turn your ignorance into a victory is hilarious.
Where is the climbdown? The conclusions haven't changed, I just questioned one of the details. I could still be wrong. Maybe the utility companies do hedge most of their gas 6 months in advance and simply do so in larger volumes per trade. All I said was that there seems to be more trading at around the 3-month timescale. ICE do not include information on traded volumes though, so I can only judge by the frequency of trades.
I'm not sure what you mean by my "attitude". I don't mind people disagreeing with me, it's the ad hominem attacks, the wilful denial of facts, the dismissal of evidence, the changing the subject with strawman arguments etc etc etc that annoys me. You really are a pest.Only yesterday you said this:It has been explained many times how the utility companies agree gas contracts well in advance of delivery. So if they're buying most of their gas 3 months ahead of time and the prices peak at the end of August, that means the most expensive gas would be being paid for... oooh... any day now.
But it has been demonstrated on this forum in recent months that it is futile trying to explain anything to the willfully ignorant. A complete and total waste of time.
Perhaps if we could trust a word you said now and not expect you to (un)subtly shift the goalposts a couple of months down the line some of us wouldn't question you. If you are going to put yourself forward as some sort of superior authority on domestic fuel prices and become personally abusive to people who don't share your views, at least try not to contradict yourself all the time.
If there's anyone who moves goalposts it's you, with your avoidance of difficult questions by changing the subject. If there's anyone who has a problem with people disagreeing with them, again it's you, with your personal attacks and abuse whenever anyone challenges your worldview with anything so troubling as facts.0
