Big round of applause for Norwich Union!

I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in October. In 2002 I took out a Critical Illness policy with Norwich Union. I checked it and it covered MS. I put in a claim straight away, and they were very helpful. They rang me frequently to update me how it was going, and today I got a call to tell me it has been approved.
I'm so relieved, it will enable me to pay off my mortgage, and not be worried if I have to give up work.
With insurance companies usually fudging about paying out, I think Norwich Union deserve a big round of applause for their Customer Service!

Yes indeed, and to you too for taking the trouble to thank them so publicly! I am sure someone from N U will see your post.
I am so pleased that you now have financial peace of mind That must be such a relief for you as the New Year approaches. All the very best to you in 2006.0 -

You have been lucky.
An associate of mine has had nothing but hassle from NU. They have lost paperwork, sent letters to the wrong address, ignored letters, not returned phone calls etc. etc. Surprisingly he too has MS and has had it for 5 years and has been unable to work for the past 2 years.
You have obviously had good service but unfortunately for ever agreed claim there are many others that are unfairly rejected. Norwich Union are not one of the better ones (report recently carried out).
However I wish you the best of luck and glad that you were able to get your claim agreed!.0 -
Personally, I have an excellent relationship and experience with NU Life and Pensions from a professional point of view. Others do not. Perhaps its my location (Norfolk).
However, NU general insurance is a nightmare and I would never use them.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -

Sorry to hear about the MS, glad to hear that you took out this important cover and can concentrate on managing your life.
It's great to hear a positive voice, I am sure your positivity will help you in the future!!!I am a fee charging WoM Mortgage broker.I now no longer give information and opinion within the Mortgage boards, because a number of posters who, having approached me professionally, agreed my fee-which has been been made very clear at the outset, taken my advice (normally cancelling a [home visit] meeting at short notice) have then approached one of the fee-free brokers on here to arrange the very same deal I have advised.Whilst I totally concur with the ethos of "money saving"- abusing the goodwill of a professional who provides a quality service is taking it too far! :mad:0 -
Regarding MS, my son was recently diagnosed with it and getting car insurance and other insurances for a mortgage he and his partner were hoping to get soon has become a nightmare for him. Anyone any ideas about best places to go for insurance in such cases?0
