The panasonic wide screen telly we have had for the last four years has just gone kaputt! Tube has gone.
We are thinking about a LCD telly and not sure what are the best makes and prices to go for.
Any info would be appreciated.

Recommended to me earlier today as I've just bought a projector but they give very good honest opinions about LCD/Plasma etc.Treat others as you would like to be treated :A0 -
Using AV Forums, I just bought a Loewe Concept 32 from House of Fraser for £1099 (£500 off in the sales) - also got 2 years IFC on it plus a 3 year guarantee.
Seems like a good deal to me.
My parents have the Toshiba WLT58 32" LCD, which is also very good (plus it comes with a Freeview tuner, something I wasn't so fussed about as I have Sky +). They got it from John Lewis for just under £1100 with a free 5 year guarantee.0 -
Diito tha above in relation to AV Forums - Price up and view wherever possible but buy from John Lewis as they have 5 yr warranties on all there LCD's. They might be a few quid more but the warranty is worth the extra.0

The John Lewis idea is excellent for this sort of purchase - the warranty might just be worth having, on such newish toys!!
Also check http://www.richersounds.com some attractive 'end of line' deals & fairish! extended warranty option.
& don't forget all this HD ready hype - it's more for high cost Sky customers, just now, but should be considered, I guess!!

Speaking of Richer Sounds, they have the 32" Sharp PE50 LCD for just under £700, with a 5 year warranty for onl;y £70 extra (10% of the purchase price). Also a very good telly and a very good deal.0

Just seen the Sharp 32" LCD Model No LC32GA6E at £848.95 which is HD ready Coemt online price.
Not sure if this is a good price..0 -
I have just picked up and set up my Loewe Concept 32 tv from HoF in Oxford Street. It is a very good telly at a good price for the brand. The picture quality is excellent both on dvd and through Sky (and Sky+ recordings).

This is my first post so hope it's useful;
Anybody living in the North Wales area (or travelling there) can buy the latest Sharp 32" TV from the Sharp factory outlet.
A pal of mine bought one just before Xmas for £569 including VAT.
The item is brand new, guaranteed and sealed in a box.
If you decide to go there it would be best to avoid saying that you read about it on mse website as they don't encourage the general public.
At the main gate / security hut just say that you are going to the factory shop which is straight ahead on the right-hand side.
You will see other items there too, all Sharp items of course.
Good luck

Also, any idea what payment options are accepted?
Can you call before you visit to check price/availability?
Thanks0 -

Thanks
The Sharp factory is located in a village called Llay which is just north of Wrexham. The actual location is Llay Industrial Estate.
The factory shop is only open Fri, Sat and Sun, I think the hours are between 10.00am and 4.00pm, but check first.
I have bought items and paid using 'plastic', so I assume that all cards are acceptable.
I don't have the phone nr but I reckon directory enquiries will.
Trust this helps, if so a word of thanks wouldn't go amiss.
