Wireless Network question

I set up a DG834G wireless router today - all seems well.
I configured the router using a laptop, but I've ended up with the router wired to my desktop.
When I use the laptop wirelessly, my network SSID appears in the network list showing it is secure using WPA-PSK.
I was under the impression, before I started, that I would have to use the network password I set up to get on the network, but I am always connected without using it or indeed any sign of having to use it.
Is this all ok and free from anyone using my network?
Thanks.

No Tony, I have never input the network name and the password into the laptop on a wireless connection.
Has the laptop stored the password somewhere?
Thanks.0 -
certainly should have!

showing as secure in the windows wireless nets list, you've used wpa (not wep), all rosy!

Many thanks Tony
Do you mean I will never have to input the password at all?
Where are you looking to find this wireless networks list?
If I got another laptop would I have to input the password then?
Thanks.0 -
the wireless network list is.....double click the network icon on your taskbar, or righ click it and 'show available networks' or similar (wired on this pc, kids on the wireless ones, cba checking)
another lappy would need the passphrase inputtingUtinam logica falsa tuam philosophiam totam suffodiant.0 -
