Sleeping Bag, looking for QUALITY

  • Yep, a hood definately makes a big difference, i'd also recommend one from personal experience of sleeping with and without.

  • My last sleeping bag didn't have a hood and I had been wondering if it made the extra difference and it seems from these posts it certainly does so I will most likely now go for one with a hood.

Thanks for all of your help I appreciate your comments.

Have an excellent new year!
  • I've been checking around since my last post here and have found that the sleeping bags that have been named here are as promised quality names, I am still trying to distinguish which are better and which are worse and I'm still learning about them. Along the way I have discovered a company called STORMLITE who make a sleeping bag range called ROLLING CLOUDS but because I don't know much about good reliable brand names I'm not sure if Stormlite are known for quality. Has anyone heard of this company, can someone advise me on this company and if their Rolling Clouds range is any good?

We invested in new sleeping bags last year and settled on Coleman ones, you get a left and right and they can zip together to form a double bag (my bloke hates sleeping alone, even in a tent!)
I can't remember the model name but i know they have hoods and are very warm and quite light to carry too, i'll find out and post back if you'd like me to :)

I did this exercise about 4 years ago when I was going to Namibia (was warned that camping in the desert can be VERY COLD - this was correct!!!) IIRC I ended up with an Angjulak (4 season) guaranteed to 0 degrees. I think I got the best price by following links from Ebay (of course, I wanted a new one!)

Just for info, what seemed to make the most difference was having a really good hood on the bag to keep my head warm. I didn't think I'd be using this, but when the temperature dropped it made all the difference!!!!

Do you still remember the link that you could pm me with please jobbingmusician? This is one I'v seen but at £100 I wasn't too keen. I haven't come across any on the 'net. It looked so snug and warm by far the best one on show. Many thanks. Other one I was going for was a snugpak and that was season 3 at £82.
