    I don't know, none of my creditors have ever taken me to court. Is it 6 months since you first defaulted? I'd say it's unlikely that you'd have a court order without you knowing, but I'm not an expert on these things. I'm sure someone with more knowledge than me will be along.

    I found it best to talk to a few and then I had a choice of options to go with, and could take the course of action I was most comfortable with. I spoke to CCCS, CAB and National Debt Line.

    Citizens Advice Bureau: Full debt and consumer advice service. Link: Citizens Advice or visit your local CAB centre (find nearest)

    Christians Against Poverty: Debt counselling agency, which specialises in helping those who are emotionally struggling too. The religious focus is why they do it, not how they do it. Link: Christians Against Poverty or call 01274 760720.

    It is a lot easier for them to ask you a quick question to clarify the situation over the phone.
