This is the situation,
I am a student and have 3 credit cards,
2 of which I pay the minimum amount each month, the third I have not made a payment for over 6months, I have since moved house and not updated the details with the credit card company, I get calls daily from Intrum Justicia (I assume this would be connected) but am scared to answer, I want to deal with the situation but am scared to talk on the phone, can I sort this out by just writing/emailing to Intrum Justicia, with the reference number and deal with it from there.
How much trouble am I in and can it be dealt with easily?
Thanks for any help

Hi
I recommend that you start by ring a debt charity here http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/loans/debt-help-plan#help
And then let us know when you took out this card and whether you applied on-line or on paper? If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
write to the credit card company to inform them of your change of address?
If they phone just say that you will only deal with them in writing and don't acknowledge the debt is yours until you are 100% sure it is yours.0 -

I assume all i need to do is write them a letter with my credit card details, thats all I have?0 -
Anymore advice from anyone?0

You just have to write to them. If you know it's your debt and you want to sort it. It sounds like they have caught up with you, and if they have your number, I'm sure they will find your address. I think you just have to 'fess up' to this one...unless I'm missing something.LBM 10/08 £12510.74/0

Hi
DCAs are not the easiest to deal with and I would suggest you follow the advice above and talk to a Debt charity as I suggested above so you know how to handle them before you write. The debt charity will help you work ut what you can reasonably afford to pay each month towards the debt.
I would also recommend that you request your Consumer Credit Agreement so that you can confirm that Intrim are leggally entitled to collect this debt. They may have sold it on by now.
Given the situation, you need to reclaim any charges on all three credit cards - see here http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/oft-bank-chargesIf you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
Is it worht visiting my old address and seeing if they have any correspondance, who should I write to, is it worth writing to the DCA Intrum Justica, quoting the reference number and asking them to explain my situation in writing, or would that lead to the balifs coming round if they know where i live?0
-
Bailiffs can't come round until you've been taken to court and defaulted on an court order, so please don't worry about that.
Chances are they'll find your address anyway (they did with me) so you've probably got nothing to lose by writing with it.
But make sure you follow the rules - don't sign anything you send to them, don't talk to them on the phone, things like that. You want to make sure they can't bully you, and it's harder for them to do that in writing. And feel free to come back here and ask any questions at any time.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0 -
When you say dont sign anything, can I actually put my name on the letter, is there anywhere I can find this information?0

You can put your name on the letter, but don't use a signature, just print it in capitals. That way they can't forge documents.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0
