Have I got this right?

Primus Saver will give me free evening and weekend calls for nothing? Did I read it wrong, if not, what is the catch?

  • Yes they will.Their is not a catch. They are hoping you will put all your call traffic through them. But i guess you might wanna combine them with other providers to make maximum savings.

Interesting. I'm currently using ntl's broadband+free e/w calls for £19.99. Even thought my 12 months isn't up yet it says in their T&C that I can downgrade whenever I want to the basic broadband-only package of £14.99. I guess I'll do that and save £5!

A question though; will Primus need to set up CPS on my line and will NTL have a problem with their CPS being cancelled?

You will not be able to use Primus if you have an NTL line. You need to have a BT phone line to use any CPS provider.
  • If you want free evening and weekend calls on NTL you would have to use OneTel and a phonepal adaptor they would charge you 99p a month for this. But do do bear in mind that they have been taken over by Talk Talk, and its not clear whether they will support it in the future.

I have a BT line. I have an ADSL and phone package with NTL. I don't have NTL cable.
  • If you pay BT for your line rental. Yes Primus would deliver the calls by cps.

  • I am about to opt for the Primus Saver 2 package but does anybody who is the cheapest provider for calling a O2 mobile from a landline?

At the moment Cleverates are until rate goes up in New Year see http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=127600

But you might find https://www.18185.co.uk easier to use,and possibly cheaper in long run.
