I've reset Epson Stylus 680/777 with SSC 4.3; still won't print!

Hi,
I desperately need to print something as soon as possible but can't get my ancient Epson Stylus 680 working again.
I've opened it up, cleaned and re-inserted the 'waste ink' pad, re-assembled it, run the SSC Service Utility v.4.30 and, after trial and error, managed to reset all the counters (or, at least, according to what SSC says), but it still won't print.
SSC says my colour cartridge (T018) is "UNSUP" (unsupported) but the program seemed to allow me to reset every counter that was available to be reset - nothing was "greyed out". The two flashing LEDs no longer flash and are back to normal. The start-up routine, when I switch it on, sounds normal.
I've used a cartridge resetter, similar to this (http://www.cartridgesave.co.uk/173.html?id=r9dNYbYU), for years, to reset the chips on my cartridges without a problem. The colour cartridge should be reset and everything should now work.
What can I do?

Sorry,
It appears the problem was my USB cable.
I've used a 'parallel port' cable and I can now print, but all sorts of other P.C. problems have arisen - bizarrely.
After I plugged-in the cable, the "New Hardware" SysTray balloon popped up and I had a new Epson (Copy1) print option.
However, the left-hand blue pane in Windows Explorer has now disappeared, as have all the icons beside "My Documents", "My Pictures", "Control Panel", etc., in the pale-blue right half of the Start menu, and the printer icon in the SysTray, when a document is being printed, is absent or invisible, although a space opens up for it and closes, when the printing has finished.
Baffling.
What have I done wrong?0 -
Sorry, again.
I restarted the P.C. and everything appears to have reverted to normal.
P.C.'s become a bit temperamental of late.0
