It's only 3pm and shares are already down 17%. By today's close they might be down over 20%. This below was released a couple of hours ago, which explains alot, although the shares have dropped further since it was released.

I think that I will now wait until wednesday before deciding on whether to put my savings into a fixed term Bmidshires account. If Lloyds investors vote yes on wednesday then I will probably go ahead. Although HBOS investors might still vote no in december, the Bmidshires fixed term applications have to be in by end of november.

I wouldn't let it affect a savings decision.
Option (a) takeover goes through.
Option (b) partial (80%ish) nationalisation of HBOS
Option (c) total nationalisation of HBOS.
Option (d) let them go under and kill the credibility of the government and cost them any hope of the next election. Wipes out the FSCS and mean all bank profits for the next 20 years will have to repay the losses to savers.
It ain't going to be (d).0 -

nothing to worry about re savings0 -
I have them at 14% down Kittie. A 3% recovery from 17% within the last hour or so.

Opinions4u, you are probably right about there being nothing to worry about from a savings point of view.0
