hmm
I to would like to know how to send the book back, they dont mention it
when you get the book just a slip with an invoice to send back
I rang them to get through to an Asian sounding person and he said to put in in the box with the slip and that a courier would pick it uo within 4 working days
This came and went, I rang back another Asian sounding person on the end (im guessing Indian call centre reading from a script)
He said the same thing a courier will pick it up within 4 working days
Im worried it will go past the cut off date to return it and be charged £20
Anyone able to help me with this situation ?0 -
my friend worked on the readers digest programs that worked the prize draws. He said that they were genuine. The computer picked the numbers, these were checked against the numbers that had been returned. If the winning number had not been returned then the prize went to the nearest returned number. The main draw had all the yes and no replies entered. The only benefit of saying yes is that sometimes there is an extra prize for people that buy things. Personally the main prize is big enough and so I dont think it is worth the hassle of returning books for the extra money.0

I just got off the phone with them, after trying and failing to unsubscribe from their daily prize draw emails.
1. Email itself says "click here to unsubscribe" but is plain text, nothing to click.
2. Website has no unsubscribe information.
3. Web contact form gets no reply.
4. Direct email to address the emails come from also gets no reply.
I rang them just now, after 20 mins on hold someone answered, and put me on hold again for another 10 mins.
They say they have removed me, but I gave them a piece of my mind. Clearly, they deliberately make it very difficult to unsubscribe. Having me do all the above, then a half-hour phone call, is wrong and disgraceful, and I told them off. I am sure they don't give a damn.0 -
My hubby's been getting them for ages and never sent them off, today however he's received a letter offering him a holiday in Turkey as thanks for being a valued customer (never bought from them). Can't see anywhere it mentions any 'admin fees' or anything suggesting a catch, can't understand why he's received it though, could it be genuine?0

well have to say i thought the same as you guys for years, but then my pops went and won 8grand a few years ago - i was gobsmacked and I saw the cheque, it was banked and it cleared. Pops did have to chase them up for it for about two weeks if i remember correctly. Just to add he did purchase books from them so am not sure if it is a necessary or builds your chances:-)2010 wins: St Helier t-shirts, tarot ebook,Facemask,Tynchy CD,Sweetie bracelet, Bottle of Baileys, Book from Radox, Cadury Bliss Bar,£25 House of fraser, £30.00 HMV,Thank you to all who post :beer:0

i decided to send back in the yes envelope and keep the book without paying them a penny.. might make them think before they spam my letterbox with junk.. just throw the requests for money in the bin.. if they pass you over to baliiffs just throw their letters in the bin too.
Thanks for the book RD0 -
hi, I think readers digest is a con. as i have wrote to them with no reploy, they keep telling you your a VIP and you have more chance of winning. i think every one one sould write to watchdog and see can they get some ansers from them, witch i am donning write to watch and get some ansers, as im fed up with ripoffs lets put a stop to it.0

I have recently tried to take a subscription to the magazine and have it posted to my home in France .The service they have given me is pathetic despite 7 phone calls they never call back as promised and as I am an english speaker I had extreme difficulty in understanding the various foriegners that attemted to deal with my call ,Surely a huge company such as the readers digest should provide a better service and employ someone who speaks competant English to deal with english speaking U.K. clients.I know we are not allowed to be racist however I am beginning to feel I am being discriminated against because I speak English. So readers digest can keep their subscription and I would advise people to avoid this bunch of useless con artists.0

must admit I have bought a couple of books but one is an excellent cookbook that I have used the other..... has never been opened but I was unsure of returns and I thought the postage would have been a lot so put it down to experience... ho hum! I also used to return the numbers in the NO envelope but after getting fed up with that as it was getting silly the amount of times I was suppossed to return numbers I didn`t bother and guess what they seem to have stopped! I did also buy the subscription on a very good offer but decided they wern`t for me so thought I`d cancel them and get a refund that was promised. Sent them an email and all seemed to be ok. Not stopped getting the books (which are mostly unopened) and surprise surprise no refund! I have learnt my lesson and luckily it hasn`t cost too much unlike some people but they won`t catch me again thats for sure!!0

I firmly believe that this is a con but that they do pay out the occasional amount to cover themselves. My mother is now in a care home after making serious allegations against my father as she truly believed that she had won a large sum of money from Readers Digest. They seem to prey on vunerable old people and have made a good job of ruining the relationship between my parents in their 60th year of marriage. Please if you have elderly relatives make sure that you get their names removed from the Readers Digest database.0
