the lady is scarily organised, putting the cash in envelopes for the months purchases!!!0

If they already had a £5K surplus p.a., why did they take out a loan?
I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe

I have noted that Martin is getting harder, and more free spoken as MMR comes to a close. Only two to go now.
But The question is did Julie get Stephen to change his contacts supplier.
Don't blame him for not selling his art though as this looks like it is something that gives him pleasure. Hold on to it Stephen.....Chocolate is the solution to all life's problems. Life happens, also coffee helps.0 -
This is the first programme I've watched in the series and I thought it was quite good (first time I've ever seen you as well, Martin, and you're much more handsome and younger than I thought!).
Mr Wadeson came across as confrontational and uncompromising, almost as if he had to be forced on to the show. He also had lots of digs at his wife and seemed to have some repressed anger towards her!
I think Martin did well, not only in saving them money but in handling Mr Wadeson."He who asks questions cannot avoid the answers"0 -
Just switched my energy supplier, their phone lines were jammed because of a TV show! Both their site and moneysavingexpert.com also went down under the pressure.
Well done martin, i am giggling imagining a npower exec, sctatching his head, wondering why they lost a coulple of thousand coustomers just before new year!!!## No signature by order of the management ##0 -
I wish Martin wouldn't keep banging on about the benefits of the Nationwide credit card for spending overseas without mentioning the pitfalls. The fact is, the Dynamic Currency Conversion scam is rife throughout certain countries, such as Spain, which makes this card useless. As major hotel groups and big stores like El Corte Ingles are in on the scam, there is no way that Visa and Mastercard would dare to punish them. The EU could do something about it but, as we are just exploitable Brits, it is just ignored.0

I suppose having your finances put on show for everyone to see, you're sure to feel vulnerable. Wonder if the Wadeson's are now signed up with the site, Hello if you're reading this thread. :hello:
I know I certainly wouldn't have the bottle to have someone go through my finances and also to roam through the house, whether it be Martin or anyone else for that matter.
Having said that though, I'm still going to miss the show when it comes to an end. When is the next series?“Ordinary riches can be stolen, real riches cannot. In your soul are infinitely precious things that cannot be taken from you.” - Oscar Wilde0 -
I noticed that the callchecker used was all the way from this little site!
I agree that if you have collected those art items then you shouldn't have to part with them - especially as they weren't in dire financial straits. However, art is there to be enjoyed and if you don't have a wall to hang it on then you'e not enjoying them and they are therefore worthless.
Nice to see that even though they were budgetting (Mrs W must have been on MSE at some stage!), they could still save some money. I imagine that it was Mrs W that put them up to it as I couldn't help feeling that Mr W couldn't care less about saving money.Sealed Pot Challenge #021 #8 975.71 #9 £881.44 #10 £961.13 #11 £782.13 #12 £741.83 #13 £2135.22 #14 £895.53 #15 £1240.40 #16 £1805.87 #17 £1820.01 declared0 -
I can't repeat the words I was using whenever I saw the so called 'man of the house' on the screen.
Too lazy.....indeed.
I did enjoy how they thought they were great at budgeting, then were shown how having British Gas and npower for gas and electricity was the worst combination.
To me, she thought she was great, but wasn't. He was just lazy.
The programme of the woman with two kids on £21k was far better.0 -
I thought the couple today were great - a really quirky mixture of being extremely organised with the budgeting envelopes, and then just oldfashioned by sticking with the same energy suppliers. I think Martin was relatively easy on them. I felt sorry for the chap yeaterday who had to give up buying wine - that's an essential for me!!!0
