Septembers £60 tax rebate

in Cutting tax
Hiya.
Everyone in our company got the £60 and subsequent rebates....except me
I have since found out (through submitting a uniform washing claim) that as far as the tax office is concerned i havent worked since the 30th of June
Obviously i have, but what happened in June was that i left my "first job" and took up more hours in my "second job". My boss said that rather than wait for weeks for the tax office to change my tax code from BR, she would finish me then start me again.........unfortunately, it appears she never sent on the P46
Tax office says its no problem as i have continued to pay tax, they just need a new P46.
However, could this be why i never got the rebate? And am i entitled to it? If i am, will it come automatic or do i have to now ask for it?
Any help would be much appreciated

Yes, this is why you did not get your refund. Once your employer operates code 603L on a cumulative basis, you will get your refund.£705,000 raised by client groups in the past 18 mths :beer:0

hi coffeeandfags.........sorry to 'hijack' your original post, but you've raised an issue we are having a problem with too.
my son is an apprentice with a small firm [ 3 staff] and brings home £690 a month after tax.
he did not get the £60 rebate in september.
we rang the tax office, they confirmed he is now on 6030 tax code and they sent a notification to his employer in august.
his boss told him the tax office do the refund......they told him his boss does!
who is responsible for putting the cash in my boys hand?
he paid exactly the same amount of tax on his oct payslip as every month this year........shouldnt it be £10 less a month til april?0 -

No problem.
Im actually worried that i will end up in the same situation. However, i guess if push comes to shove, both myself and your son should be able to claim a rebate from the tax office in April after this years P60s are issued

it wouldn't be sent from the tax office - the adjusted coding would mean that the employer would operate the new figure on the payroll system thus generating the extra payment due on his wage slip.0

this is correct, it just means the inconvenience of completing a tax return when really speaking you shouldn't have to.0 -
It is absolutely the responsibility of your employer to operate PAYE correctly and everyone should have had the refund when their codes were changed (assuming they were on the cumulative basis). No way should you wait until the end of the tex year as this does not involve HMRC in any way. You should contact whoever does the wages and ask them to ring their tax office for guidance if they can't cope with it.£705,000 raised by client groups in the past 18 mths :beer:0

thanks for that folks, suppose it would be easier to see what code he was on and if he were paying the correct amount if his payslip wasnt just a compliment slip with a couple of hand written figures on it!0
