Hi give the doctors a ring and ask, I know in my surgery you have to see a doctor to get a sicknote.
Good luck

I have picked up sicknotes for my husband when the Dr has given him a repeat one, but I think it is up to the individual practice. I would ring them and ask.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -
I've picked up for my DH and he's picked up for me without any problem - but we are well known as a couple at the surgery, so don't know if that makes a difference

I agree with the others, it really depends on if the person collecting the note is known by the surgery to be closely associated with you. My surgery would not give my prescription to my mum (she is not even registered at that surgery so they would not have any idea who she is).Gone ... or have I?0

A sick note is a bit different from a prescription. You could theoretically abuse a prescription if the medication was dispensed and given to someone else, but a sick note is very little use to anyone except the person it relates to.
It would probably be left in reception anyway and there would be no need to see the doctor. I am assuming this is a repeat and not a new one, because obviously the doctor would have to see the patient to establish that a sick note was needed in a first instance.
I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe

The above would apply to a sick note also at my surgery (I wasn't going to give that as an example, as it would not have been true  ). When giving out a sick note you are giving out personal details of the patient, and therefore it would be a breach of confidentiality if this was given to the wrong person.
Interestingly my chemist will allow anyone to collect prescribed medicines. All you need to know is the name of the intended recipient.Gone ... or have I?0 -
