ING - deposit guarantee

Hi, I was informed a while back that the Dutch Gov. guarantees deposits up to £78,000 ( actually 100,000 Euro ). Is this strictly accurate. I found something about this protection on the ING site several weeks ago BUT cannot see a ref to it now ? Also, should it be correct, is the guarantee worldwide or possibly Dutch citizens only ? Ta for useful replies.
PS Forget everything, just found the info. It refers to the euro figure as above BUT states this is an interim guarantee in that it lasts for 1 year.
