FPS and one-time payment

Hi,
Just came back from a Natwest branch and they guy said their FPS is just for Standing orders.
Is it true? He was not sure.
FPS is same day payment right? and they are free, correct?
Looking at the wikipedia page, it seems many banks implemented it already.
(Natwest and Barclays do)

Is it only through the internet that you can do "one-time FPS payment"?

Same day (like instant), and free yes.

FPS may not be implemented into their branches yet. But if Natwest can send, and the bank you are sending to can recieve, then online it should work.

Why don't you try it?

Also the bank won't guarantee that your payment will go through on FP so you would still need to use CHAPS if you NEED something to go across same day.

I set up a payment on Hfax online the other day, every time I had done it before, it's gone through FP but for some reason this has taken 3 working days

Hmmm... I will therefore need to give it a try and see then.
Haven't tried yet because I can't until I order this card reader to be used online at Natwest.
