Insane Amount of Credit Searches

Just got hold of my credit file and noticed I must have some kind of record for the number of credit searches in 12 months!

46!!!!!

I take it having this many searches on my file may be a reason why I cant get any credit at the minute apart from basic bank accounts!

Thats no more applying for credit for the next year for me!

I did notice that Royal Sun Alliance performed approximately 9 searches in a month so maybe someones tried something fraudulent as I dont recall getting in touch with them for any reason... I have no accounts with them!

Think I'll give them a call.

Can searches be removed from my file?

Searches can be removed from your file but only by the credit searcher not yourself.
Royal sun alliance are an insurer if you didn't know do you have any insurance policies which could be with them.

Are all of these searches marked credit application? RSA and other insurers will often make "unrecorded enquiries" or identity checks, but these will not be seen by lenders. The only searches that will be visible to lenders are credit applications.
