Is there anway i can avoid having to pay BT £4.50 for sending out my phone account?
I assumed the line rental etc covered this. If they didnt send me an account they wouldnt earn any money, WOULD THEY!
I dont want to do it by d/d or s/o.
If i dont pay i expect they will just cut me off.
Being non waged i need to keep control of my outgoings.

The only way to get around it is by setting up a Direct Debit for it. Not only do you save money by setting one up, you're also offered the most protection for your money by doing so.

So am I - and that is why I pay all my bills by DD.smudger1946 wrote: »Being non waged i need to keep control of my outgoings.
It's easy to be aware of what the next phone bill will be (the rental amount is static and call charges, even if you are in the minority who still makes them via BT, can be checked online). In this case, opting for DD saves money too.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -

Sorry, I have to take issue with this and I have no idea why people believe this to be so.
Direct debit offers almost nil protection in the form of safeguards. It provides remedies which often leave you paying for payee's errors.
I appreciate that people who cannot organise themselves into paying bills on time might well find it convenient, but to suggest that it is the most safe way to pay people, or indeed in any way safe, is laughable.0 -
If you want to budget you can set up a monthly D/D with BT rather than wait and pay the full bill by quarterly D/D. Alternatively BT Basic may be of use for those on low income http://www.serviceview.bt.com/list/Public/current/Cust_Opts_Res_boo/2-FrameworkImpl55289.htm
Im sure someonne can confirm this, but I think most telephony suppliers charge extra if you don't pay by D/D0 -
thank you all for your kind input.
