Nikkai 2727 Video Sender

Hi there,

I know there has already been a query on this but mine is a little different. I bought one so I could use the TV in the bedroom without cables running all over the place and thought it would be a simple plug and play type operation. However, no matter what I try, I can't get it to work although the distance is probaby no more than about 13 m. I've even tried turning off my wireless router as I know they can pose a problem. I wondered if the problem might be that my main TV has integrated Freeview, although I can't see why it should be.

Also, I'm assuming I shouldn't have to feed the sender cables through a Freeview box in the bedroom. No matter which way I do it, all I get in the bedroom is "No Signal" Can anyone help, please?

Thanks,

Linzi

  • what signal are you trying to send? sky/dvd/other? what have you connected the sender to?

  • I'm just trying to use the TV in the bedroom so it's basically Freeview. I've tried connecting the sender just to the TV but also to my dvd player in the living room and neither combination seems to work.

I'm usually pretty good with technical stuff but can't figure this one out at all. I thought the receiver might be faulty but I had purchased an extra receiver for the upstairs bedroom and it doesn't work with that either.
  • to use freeview on your bedroom tv, ideally, you'd need an aeriel. plan b would be to send the signal from a freeview set top box,
i don't know the specific unit you have, but generally connecting the sender to the scart of a dvd player (and powering it) and the reciever to a tv, all via scart, should result in a signal being received by the tv on AV1, AV2 or AV3 etc..., perhaps this is where part of the issue lies, have you checked the AV channels of the TV? does the receiver have a light to show reception? Are the units plugged into the mains?

edit -you're not the first here to struggle :)

Yes, I've checked that the TV is on AV and that both receiver and transmitter are on the same channel, turned on and plugged in. The receiver does have a light on it and like I said, I've tried every combination I can think of but still can't get the wretched thing to work. The bedroom TV did have an aerial extension using a splitter from the main set but I thought I'd be able to dispense with all that by getting the sender.

I'm tearing my hair out here!! lol The reviews I've read made it sound as though the Nikkai would be trouble free - silly me!

Try setting up the televisions next to each other. If you can't get signal then, its the device thats not working. If it works, it sounds like you're too far away or there are too many walls between the receiver an the transmitter, and you should see if you can find another, more powerful device.
    Super geek.
  • Thanks, Domokun, I'll try that.

Ditto and i know the unit works as my brother tried it before he gave it to me. I hope you find the right configuration soon.
