exclusive deals between 3 mobile is there any coming soon? Was there not an offer for this half price not long ago?Anyone know when the next one might be?
Also i just purchased myself a Acer Aspire One A150L how hard or easy is this to work with this item, what modem i would need and what i need to do as i think i need to tweak a little.
Also i would be using this in the uk,but also in australia in the near future,im sure i read that using the above 3 mobile they charge the same as if i was in the uk is this correct, but other networks are more expensive if using abroad.
Anyone give me advice on this and what i am best getting and what deals etc,i worked out the useage i would need per month, but want the best and cheapest deals.

Is the Acer bluetooth? If so just set a connection between your pc and your mobile - ensuring first of course you have a suitable data tariff. o2 add data (unlimited use subject to fair useage) to contract phones for £7.50 per month.
If no bluetooth buy a dongle for a few quid off the bay of E. All 3g phones have built in modems so it cuts down on components that can let you down.
I would be very wary of 3. In my experience they are the worst of all networks, particularly their call centres. Double, triple, quadruple check and then check again their gprs rates in Oz. You may just be better getting a payg sim deal there.Don't lie, thieve, cheat or steal. The Government do not like the competition.

Their data rates in Oz are the same in the UK. You get to use your UK data allowance on the "3" network in Oz.
As regarding the USB dongle and Acer. Don't know. If the Acer was running Ubuntu, I'd say it was a breeze because I use a "3" Dongle with Ubuntu 8.10 and it was a doddle to set up. Plugged it in, waited until the LED started flashing, checked in Network Manager and it listed a Huawei. Clicked on that, it popped up a configuration wizard where you put in your country, it lists all the 3G providers for that country, select "3" and you're off - all done.0 -
I can say that i use a 3 modem and they are reliable,
And if you purchase one with a certain amount of usage , 5 GB for example. You can actually put a block on it so it does not go over. So as soon as the usage is gone it stops until the next batch is due. This applies to contract mobile broadband.
You could even get a pay as you go modem.
Hope this helps
