paintwork on Corsa

I have an R reg corsa (my baby) it has full service history she runs like a dream and (touch wood) i have never had a problem with running her, however her paintwork is flat and dull any suggestions how to spruce her up without forking out money i don't have to get her resprayed.
I also have another question, my husband is very frugal (i say tight lol) he has been slowly filling his car while the petrol is cheaper he now has a full tank but, he is buying a smaller car that is lower emissions and wants to take the fuel out of his Fiesta the garage won't put fuel in other car to compensate does anyone have any ideas how to take the fuel out? it is an 04 so probably has anti siphon gadget. Please pm me on this although i feel that the wan*ers that steal petrol are too thick to read but you never know.
Thanks in anticipation.

you could try t-cut and then clean and polish and then wax it or clean, clay, polish and a good wax ,i would try the later first http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_253057_langId_-1_categoryId_165527

if it has anti syphon which you are possibly right it may have. the best thing to do is to take a pipe off the fuel filter (underneath the car near fuel tank) its fairly easy to get to on the fiesta. put the pipe into a container to store the fuel, probably best adding hose to the fuel line to make it easier to get to without spilling any.and then put the ignition on,this will activate the fuel pump and drain the tank into the container. make sure the container is big enough to hold all the fuel. it will be much easier to do if its up on a ramp. and of course be very careful it is petrol after all and very flammable,no smoking, sparks, torches,or even static.

personally i wouldnt bother with this hassle,i would use the car and use up some of the fuel.

I have just ordered some from the site you recommended i will let you know how i get on. Think some before and after pics are needed.
  • there was a thread about this on a corsa a few months ago, might be worth a search. Just normal polish and regular cleaning will be good for it, the car cleaning nuts will probably offer some more specific advice

Here is a job on a red 306, tho you'd think it to be decidedly pink.
Bought for peanuts due to the bad bodywork:

T-Cut applied, washed and then polished with Autoglym super resin polish gave me this result on a similarly faded car:

    I'm not a pro.
Buy a machine polisher, your hands will thank you.
  • I use a hand held machine with a nice firm buffing pad and lots of AutoSmart Renovation Compound, followed by thier Finishing compound. Only really for prof use like us scumbags in the trade. Radiant wax and resin polish are good. But a bit too chalky for my liking...

I found that renovating/T-cutting the paintwork on my old Corsa was a waste of time as the red Vauxhall paint just seems to go completely off and you need to do it again soon.

    I thought 'Salmon-pink' was a Vauxhall colour ;)

Did you polish and protect or just T-Cut it?

The second photo is Vauxhall red circa 1994 done 6 months ago.
    Still gleams.

Red cars especially are terrible for fading paint but a great bargin buy if you be bothered with the rubbing

To sort out your paint work google "Auto Detailing" , or visit www.detailingworld.co.uk << i have no connection with thsi site but look at the quality fo the work in the show room and studio sections, get your car machien polished professionaly and buy a good wax to keep it in good condition.
If it doesnt pay rent sell it.
