Laptop bought in Kuwait - can it use dial up access here?

I've been asked to help a friend of a friend tomorrow to see if she can get internet access whilst in the UK.
She normally works in Kuwait and bought a laptop there so she could bring it with her when she came back home to visit her parents. As she's only going to be here for short periods of time, a dial-up internet account would be best, providing of course the laptop has a modem. If it does have a modem what will I need to get it connected to a UK phone socket?
Thanks

a normal standard cable should be fine - the modem ports on most laptops are standard
some ISPs do not let you setup internet access with a credit card registered in another country. Is it worthwhile using a free AOL CD and you register it with your card and then make a note to cancel after the three month(s)0 -
Thanks, I'm sure I've got a spare cable somewhere.
She would probably just use pay as you go access and pay for it through her phone bill.0 -
Is this of any use, no registration, no hassle..,just dial

username freenet, password freenet, and you are on the internet

You only need to register if you want a freenet email account, but hotmail/gmail etc will work without registrationEver get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -
Thanks - I'll keep that in mind. She may have access to webmail through her Kuwait ISP so this may be ideal.0

I think Kuwait has both the standard UK electricity plugs and two round pins. So she should check if she needs an adapter. The voltage is the same though.0
