Right desperate here. My laptop as started to start up and when it gets to the Windows XP screen it is just freezing, the little bar that moves along the bottom is still moving though???? Safe mode is putting on a long list on writing so I am getting no where there either? Hope someone can help. Thanks in advance.

if you leave safe mode to start properly it SHOULD boot up and you SHOULD see the desktop (In low res):idea:0

reboot it and watch the screen carefully, you should see something
"Press space to load last known good menu"
When you see that hit the space bar. This will take you back to the last time it booted up correctly.
If you don't see the above, try booting up and continually hitting the space bar.0 -
right I'm having ago at that but anytime i go in safe mode I'm just getting loads and lines of writing with system32 mentioned in all of the lines, ring any bells???0

when i start in safe mode as soon as I start it I get a page of writing:
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\windows\system32\DRIVERS\isapnp.sys
The rest of the lines are the same but with a different ending after drivers??? I think it must have a virus : (
After this writing comes on nothing else happens.0 -
The only way around this is to remove the hard drive and scan it using another computer:idea:0

Try the "bootcfg /rebuild" command in recovery console.

The white lines are normal, as far as I recall. Its showing he files the computer is loading in order to boot into windows. You didn't think windows was one file, did you? All the file names you're seeing are required for the use of your computer.

Boot into safe mode and leave it. If you come back in 5 minutes and it is not the windows desktop, write down exactly what is on the screen, and come back here.
Good luck!Super geek.0
