I already have A&L accounts and when I applied for an issue 2 esaver it appeared on my list of accounts the very next day, which I thought was quite impressive! I can't use it yet as I can only transfer the funds across from the issue 1 on the 1st of December but it's there ready and waiting
All my accounts with A&L have been very quick and painless to set up so I would go for it if I were you. Don't forget the £20 caskback through quidco

I attempted to open issue 1... Never got sent my log in for the online banking - phoning didn't help, as they just assured me they'd send it in the post within 7 days. I never got it. I didn't fund the account at all, but did get the Quidco cashback, so I guess I didn't do too badly out of it.
They've now written to me saying I need to fund the account by 30th November - fat chance!Target Cash Net Worth: £25K by January 2012

The rate on this account will plummet at the end of the month. I'd wait and see how low it falls before applying.0

Thanks for the Quidco tip as I was considering putting my Icesave money in this account.
However the fact that they have an Issue 1 and Issue 2 obviously suggests they will keep ditching and switching and only giving the best rates of interest to their newest investors. Its more cunning than the one year bonus merchants as it doesn't look like there is an obvious catch (unlike the one year lock in) but all they have to do is keep starting a new series every three months at which point they can then cut the rate on the legacy no longer available series and rely on you not having the energy to be observant and keep on moving. The same thing is happening with the likes of Scottish Power and Powergen on their energy tariffs with only new customers getting the best deals even thogh older customers can switch across to the latest tariffs if they know about them..................0 -

I suspect a one year fixed bond at say 5.5% is a better bet except that sadly I can't afford to tie up all my money for that long as i need several thousand quid of it for the taxman in January.:eek:0 -

Quidco are a very reliable outfit. They always pay up on all the transactions commenced through their website, although I do always take the precaution of always clearing my cookies and web cache before logging in to their website and commencing any transaction from there with one of the retailers they pay commission on.0 -
IMHO A&L are ok. I have several accounts with them. Good address history (I opened accounts just before moving) and on the register of electors got me through anti-money-laundering checks with little pain. They are a bit prone to introductory bonuses and had Online Saver issue 1 and then issue 2 in a similar way to eSaver so you have to watch them closely.
I would say that the online view of your accounts is not quite the same as I think they get inside the organisation so things can be a day behind in some cases.0 -
