PC World - at the end of my tether

In brief I need a bit of advice as to where I stand.
In the last 5-6 weeks I have had 4 pcs from pc world.
1st pc configured wrongly (graphics card downgraded instead of upgraded)
2nd pc faulty & replacement pc "not ordered"
3rd pc faulty - returned under warranty which stated same or similar system - same system not available and they would not give me a same spec pc as they were looking at swops based on price
4th pc which I accepted with regret as it is a downgraded system and this was also configured with the wrong operating system (they also let me down when reconfiguring this and left me standing instore for 45 mins after being told this would be redon ine a specified 3 hrs timeslot).
Apart from the fact I am trying to get compensation from pc world I am trying to find out where I stand with regards to their offer (and my stupid acceptance!) of a downgraded sytem - having ran this for a few days I am not happy with the performance. Any ideas - warranty and my RMA states
"same or equivalent"
I have had the worst service ever and as no one takes resonsibilty I am at the end of my tether. I am going to call trading standards tomorrow but just wondering if anyone had any experience or knowledge about warrantys and also where I stand legally.

Not a very clear post. I'm not sure why you accepted an inferior product...
What compensation are you trying to "get" and for what?0 -

The biggest mistake people make is combining compensation with the fault / issue.
They are 2 very separate issues and should never be combined.
Focus on getting the fault / issue rectified first, then and only then do you deal with the compensation issue.
The word "Compensation" should not even be mentioned until the fault / issue is resolved.Click here for Martins (MSE) advice on who to contact with Debt Issues - YOU HAVE NO REASON TO USE A FEE PAYING DEBT MANAGEMENT COMPANY- THEY CANNOT DO ANYMORE FOR YOU THAN THOSE LISTED IN MY LINK ABOVE.
All information given by myself is offered informally and without prejudice - if in doubt seek help from a qualified and insured professional0 -
Basically I needed a pc and the one I initally bought (and had replaced a few times) was no longer available. The one I was offered and accepted was the closest to it in the price range. So I have went from a quad proessor 4gb of ram & a 500gb hard drive to a trio proccessor 4gb of Ram and a 250gb hard drive. As they were basing the swop based on price rather than spec I was not quite sure where I stood. I have searched the interent trying to find out about the legal side of warrantys to see whether price comes into it or not.
I am a designer and my pc is literally my life when it comes to earning me money without it I am in trouble - hence why I took what was offered.
I am looking for compensation for the time I have have had to wait in for pcs being picked up & delivered & for phone calls (over 15 calls made). I totally understand a faulty pc is no-ones fault (these things happen) but 2 mis configured systems and a replacement system not being ordered have all been the fault of pc world staff.0 -

The fault is gone as in the pc is now back with pcworld.
My compensation is not with regards to the pc faults (as before these things happen - nothing is infallible) rather the way resolving these has been treated by pc world and the total lack of care.0 -

If your PC is your life then get a refund from PC world based on their inability to deliver a working computer in 4 attempts, and go somewhere more reliable. Some of the stuff they sell is absolutely shocking and judging by the 'quality' of the work done by them, their technicians use carpenters hammers and nails to fix PCs.
Dell, for example, might be Dull but they can generally deliver a working system that's geared to business. If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything0 -
Hi Robert
I know, I know hindsight is a wonderful thing.
However what I am trying to find out what my rights are with regards to my warranty - and my acceptance of a lower spec'd machine and also where I stand legally as they did not offer me "the same or similar system" they only offered me lower spec'd systems.
Any help or advice would be appreciated.0 -
Sorry Peanut, I'm not having a go, simply suggesting that if you've had 4 machines that have now failed, you're in a reasonable position to ask for a refund and go elsewhere. If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything0

Hi Robert
Cheers - didn't think you were having a go. I know i'm the daftie buying from them.
Have made 3 calls so far this morning (just going to take your advice and ask for a refund - best just to let it go) and still waiting for the enigma who is a busniess guy to make it to the actual store...
Thanks again.0
