Don't know if this is in the right thread, but has anyone else had their paypal account accessed? Yesterday, I had 5 transactions from skype in the space of a minute placed on it, all of which were refunded half an hour later. Then tonight, I get an e-mail from paypal saying a hold on my account has been placed because of possible third party access. What's going on? About a month ago, my ebay account was hacked as well, and someone tried to list a lot of stuff for sale. They told me it didn't affect my paypal account and didn't need to change my password on it. Is it all related? What will I lose next?

Did you have the same email address/password for your Paypal account? If so they could have used it on Paypal.
Either that or you have spyware on your computer that you need to get rid of. Do a scan every week or so to keep an eye things.0 -
Yea it was the same details. I did a scan with F-secure only a few days ago, and it told me there was spyware on my computer, but it kept shuting down before it would finish. And any other scanners I use don't pick it up. (Norton, McAfee or even spyware doctor.)Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j0

There has been issues with spyware recently but in most of the cases the ebay and paypal accounts have been compromised via Hotmail or google accounts, so check those as well and do a full clean. My PayPal account was accessed in the same way. I contacted PayPal and the transactions were reversed, and the money put back into my PayPal account.
BEWARE though that PayPal are sneaky - they do not put it back where the funds originally came from. So if they came from your bank you will need to move the money back manually. And if PayPal charge you make sure you get that refunded. And also contact your bank if, like in my case, you went overdrawn and got charged due to the fraud.
All the best and hope this helps,
