I' ve not been but was in Cornwall in December last year and pretty sure they have some special events on - maybe an iceskating rink or something.

Yep - I just looked - they have a "winterwonderland"

  • Yes - it's lovely in December with the ice rink and Christmas lights and so on. You'll enjoy it. I think it closes quite early (when it gets dark) so bear this in mind so you're not rushing around at the end of the day!

We did it in December two years ago - hardly any queues, got there around 11m and left about 4pm seeing everything on offer.

  • We went in late January and had an excellent day out - the place was nearly deserted so there were no queues, and we could be almost alone in the biospheres. There is a concrete room with a giant acorn in it, which has some wierd acoustic effects - we were in there a full 15 minutes before we saw anyone else!

The train that goes up and down from the entry place to the bottom of the pit was running, and there must have been two other families on it.

We parked right by the entrance - probably no more than 30 cars there when we arrived.

There were a couple of school parties in, but they soon cleared off to the ice rink and were no trouble. There were a couple of major pieces of landscaping going on, and the aerial runway thing was not available. Definitely the time to go!

thankyou everyone, we have been several times before but always seems to be may/june time and our 2 small children love it, we have a week off work in december this year so thought it might be worth a look during a different season.
    Thanks again
