Can't connect Wii to our TV

Wondering if anyone can help me please. I've bought my son a Wii for Xmas and I've just discovered that I don't have a socket for it to connect to on my tv. My tv is an Asus monitor and connected to a media centre, but the monitor only has two sockets on the back a blue and a white.

I'm not very technical when it comes to this type of thing so any help would be really appreciated.

Is there an adaptor that I could buy, if so what's it called and where would I get one?

I'd like to try and get this sorted out a.s.a.p. as I don't want to disappoint him on Xmas Day when it won't work.

Many thanks
I won't buy it if I can make or borrow it instead

Do you have the model number of the monitor?. Most games consoles i know of connect to TV's not monitors, but I could be wrong.
  • Thanks for the reply scottishf, unfortunately there is no model number on the monitor and I have checked. I thought I'd got a tv monitor but it's not which is why I think I have the problem. I was hoping that there was an adaptor I could buy as I don't want to replace the media centre with a tv.

I'm guessing the blue socket is a VGA socket, while the white one is DVI, in which case, you can get Wii-VGA adaptors, although not official Nintendo ones.

It would be best to know the model number of the monitor first to make sure, before suggesting spending money on anything.

Do the sockets look like this?

  • Hi Nick,

    Many thanks for your help.

I've just had a look and yes that's what they look like. There really isn't a model no. on the monitor I've tried finding out but come up with nothing unfortunately. Would I be able to buy one of these adaptors on the high street?

    Cheers

I've had a quick google, and the thing you need would appear to be the "Vdigi VD-W2".

I'm not sure you'll get it on the high street, you may have to buy online. Others may have a better idea than I do!
  • Thanks Nick,

I'll have a look and order one. I appreciate your help.

    Cheers
