Which LG TV? 3000 or 5010?

Hello
Am looking at buying a new tv and have narrowed it down to 2 models, which are both available at great prices
42LG3000 is 720p HD and £480 at Richer Sounds (when they get some in!)
42LG5010 is Full HD and about £500 at Dixons after using vouchers and quidco
The 3000 gets a great reveiw on Which? (although it's for the 37" version), getting 4 stars for sd and hd picture and 58% overall.
The 5010 gets a good review too (this time for the 47"), but only gets 3 stars for sd picture, and 57% overall.
However, some other sources (such as Trusted reviews, what tv and hi) have given the 5010 a bit of a shoeing for its picture quality, with motion blurring apparently a problem. User reviews sem to be quite positive of both.
As I'm probably gonna use it primarily for sd viewing from Virgin cable and normal dvd's, which should I get?
Do I really need full HD? I don't play games very much (might get a ps3 eventually but don't have a hd games system at the mo) and don't have blu ray yet either.
Does the 3000 get a better sd score because it is not full hd?
Will there really be that much difference between 720 and full hd when I do get it, especially given that probably 95% of what I watch will be sd anyway?
Any answers and advice will be hugely appreciated!
Cheers
Minski

I have recently purchased the 42LG3000 with similar requirements to yours i.e mostly SD viewing with possibility of blu-ray in the future. The purist will always prefer 1080p but I think in practice there is no real advantage for normal viewing of SD sources.
I am impressed overall with LG3000 picture quality but can recommended reasonable quality SCART cables for best results. I had a noticable degradation in picture quality/colour balance when using SCART cables which must have had oxidised contacts.0
